Claiming SMP on NHS 'bank' work?

Does anyone know wrther or not maternity pay can be claimed by someone who does 'abnk' work for the NHS - where the person is called on when there is a need.

Do they meet the continuous employment and earnings criteria?

If they cannot claim SMP due to not meeting these criteria they may be able to claim Maternity Allowance.
