Help Needed With Savings!!!

Hi all,
As you can see I'm a complete newbie here, but was needing some help and everyone seems to know what they are talking about.
I recently split with my partner and after buying myself a new house have been left with around £7k. I know its not a fortune but i would still like to invest it wisely otherwise I know I'll keep dipping into it.
Could anyone tell me by best options. just for info I am a mature full time student about hopefully starting my nursing diploma in Sept (if I get pass the interview!!!!), I currently bank with both the Lloyds TSB and HSBC.
thanks in advance for any help.

are you after investing (Stocks and Shares) or Saving ?
If saving, then I would put 3k into an ISA now (before April) NS&I Direct ISA is currently paying 5.55% and seems to be one of the best.
I would also look at something like ICICI or Icesave 5.45%AER as somewhere to park the remaining 4k for now.
In April you can add a further £3k to the ISA (or start a new one).0
