Renting for the first time... help!

I'm planning to rent for the first time with my partner. Both of us are moving out of our parents and we don't have a clue on where to start. Can anyone offer any suggestions on what I need to do first? And what we need to look out for?

Sit down and work through your budgets before you do anything else. Familiarise yourself with coucil tax, agency fees etc What ever you do you don't want to be caught by surprise with any unexpected expenses.0
