Some peculiar situations regarding car insurance

I have some confusing queries regarding my car insurance!
Any help will be highly appreciated.
1. Since my office is near to my home [30-minute walking distance] I excluded commuting on my policy [to lower premium]. I understand it does mean that in case of visiting to/from office I won't be covered.
But....
if I get caught by police while going to office by car - can I be prosecuted for driving without insurance? [My policy is comprehensive] In case I ever need to claim anything while going to office by car do I have to "lie" to insurance company that I was not going to office but going else where?
2. Does it mean that I can or can't drop my wife to HER office?
3. While taking the policy I estimated my annual mileage to be 3000 miles - but I already crossed that mark. Does it going to affect me? During policy taking, they didn't ask for my odometer reading though.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

1. You are clearly going to use your car for commuting so you should cover it for that - the increase in cost should be small. The rest is irrelevant.
2. See 1 above.
3. The ins company at point of a claim could ask for previous MOT's to check milleage if they are suspicious. Not likely, but possible.
What you have done is described 2 acts of insurance fraud (the latter may be unintentional). Come clean and pay the correct premium. The milleage increase may even decrease your premium.0 -
Yes, you would be driving without insurance as you are in breach of the T&Cs - same as if you were a provisional licence holder and drove a car unsupervised whilst you have insurance you have breached the terms and so get done for a list of offences including driving without valid insurance.
As ArchieB says, increasing the mileage may actually reduce the premiums going forward. Exceptionally low mileage drivers pay a higher premium as it is considered they lack the experience gained through regular driving.... this at the very low level outweighs the increased risk that spending more time on the road proses. Each insurer writes their own rating system but may have an "optimum" mileage (in price terms) of somewhere between 5-10k miles. All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers
