Returning a faulty netbook at Comet

My friend bought a Netbook from Comet less than a month ago, but the battery is no longer charging.
He did the obvious thing & took it back to the store who said that they needed to phone the manufacturer for a returns number, however the phone number no longer works, so Comet are refusing to do anything.
So my friend is left with an item less than a month old that doesn't work & the shop won't do anything about it. I don't know what make / model the netbook is. He just asked me for ideas.
To me, the store should offer replacement or refund, after all, he bought the item from the store not the manufacturer. It's not his fault the phone number doesn't work.
Any ideas guys? Thanks

Get them to phone for you in store! I'd have done this right away for anyone....I'm sure they'll come up against the same problem.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
