Hi and a happy new year to everyone.
I have had my bread machine for about 2 years now and when I first had it I made my own bread mix and it turned out gross. Since then I have been buying bread mixes to use which are all really nice but cost between 60p -£1.20 each. Please can someone help me with a bread rec that I can make myself and which flour, yeast ect to use. A basic white loaf is what I need and can I add fruit, sundried toms or garlic to it. Thanks everyone. Paige X

Hi there. I inherited a breadmaker last year. Tried it out with the recipes included and they were terrible - far too salty and sugary. So, through trial and error I came up with this mix:
2 tblspns oil (sunflower or olive) put in with -
270g warm water, then add -
450g strong white bread flower
2 tblspns dried milk
1 tblspn sugar
small pinch salt
1 sachet Tesco easy fast action yeast
I sometimes switch 100g of the white flour for wholemeal.
This makes a nice (to me) loaf, or quite often I get the dough mixed and then make rolls.

Hi Paige,
Which machine do you have? I only ask because according to my instructions the recipes are quite specific to each machine.
I have a morphy richards and for the basic 2lb loaf I use:
1 and a half cups of water (lukewarm)
4tbs milk powder (asda own brand)
4tbs sunflower oil (flora)
2 and a half tbs sugar
1 and a half teasps salt
2 cups of strong bread flour (asda)
2 cups of value plain flour (asda)
half a cup of seeds (pumpkin, sunflower, sesame and linseed)
1 and a quarter teasps of fast action yeast (tesco own brand)
I bake it on the basic setting (3 hours)
