Problem with Sky tv bill where do I stand

Options
Hi, can anyone help me.

On 18th december I upgraded by tv package from sports (£38 per month) to the full package (£43 per month) in order for me and the family to be able to watch movies over the holidays.

I upgraded using the tv remote and the sky interactive service, no information was given about any charges over and above the cost of the full package.

When I received my bill a couple of days ago I was informed that due to upgrading prior to my bill date, I was charged £92. (apparently something to do with upgrading before my bill date and then the new charge on top). I expected to be charged at a maximum, the difference between the two packages, ie. £5ish.

I contacted sky to complain about these charges and was told by the customer service that the current bill would take me through to Feb, ie. no payment in december but pay double for Jan which covers upto Feb.

I've since checked my bank account online and found that I've been paid the standard £37 for December and I will be charged the £92 in Jan when my next bill comes in.

I plan to ring them tomorrow to challenge this, but would appreciate some pointers from people. I'm currently 2 months into a 12 month sky+ contract so not sure how much wieght I'd have by threatening to cancel the whole thing. (Plus like a sucker I like watching sky)

I basically feel like they have me over a barrel but really hate the fact that I'm being charged riduculous amounts for the situation when I'm prepared to give them more money in the first place.

Rant over,

thanks in advance to anyone who posts advice to this.
