How does nectar work on Ebay?

Hi all. I'm mightily confused by eBay and Nectar this evening - would appreciate some help!

I want to take advantage of the triple points thingy, and luckily have an item I already wanted to buy on eBay - it's a buy-it-now if that makes any difference.

I have gone through the nectar site, committed to buy the item and am trying to pay for it with my debit card rather than using paypal - it seems that as soon as I go on to the paypal site the nectar cookie switches off.

This seller does accept debit card payments, but whenever I click 'proceed to pay' it takes me off eBay and on to Paypal. How can I stop it doing this? I'd really appreciate the triple points.

I've never gone through nectar, I use a cash back site, once you get to ebay through the cash back site, you just proceed as you would normally & pay by paypal.
Having a quick look at nectar it does say
"Note—There may not be any reference to Nectar once you’ve been redirected to the retailer’s own site. Nonetheless, your transaction will be tracked and points will be awarded on qualifying transactions, providing you are cookied, logged in or have entered your card number in the ‘Go shopping’ box above".
You may want to wait for someone to come along who collects nectar points on there.
To me it looks as though you go onto the nectar site, go to the ebay bit, put the digits of your cards on that it's asking for, then press go shopping & from then on that's it. You would then pay via paypal. Or that's how cash back sites work anyway.
If you navigate away, log back into the nectar site then ebay then pay via paypal.
That is how I would say it works.
But I'm not a user of nectar on there.
I can't find anything that says you have to use a debit card. The seller may just take debit cards via paypal.

I collect Nectar points via Ebay and never have any probs as long as I go to the ebay site via Nectar.

I dont always use paypal as some of the purchases are collect paying by cash and the Nectar points are still awarded. I would therefore say that its the fact that you've won an item either through auction or BIN that triggers the Nectar points.

I see a reference such as http : // www . ebay . co . uk/?clk_rvr_id=123456789 when first transfered to ebay from nectar but nothing further once I start using ebay.

Thanks guys, I just got on with it in the end and hoped for the best. What happened was after I'd gone to the 'pay now' page and put in my card details it re-directed me back to eBay, the 'green' nectar light came back on again and I clicked on 'confirm payment'. All seems to have been tracked as intended. Thanks for your advice!
