Cat query - tapeworms & veruccas

Hi there
I have two queries which I hope you can help with

1) Tapeworm - my cat goes outside but stays in our garden. She chases (& probably eats) spiders, flies, moths and any other insect she can get her paws on - she has never been in contact with birds or mice. About a month ago she had worms, I treated with Advocate to no avail therefore I got Profender from the vet for tapeworm (they were abit sceptical). Anyway this worked a treat but I have noticed she has worms again which are unaffected by the Advocate. Is it possible for tapeworms to survive in soil as we have two soil filled troughs that she uses? Has she been reinfected from this? and will the vet give me more Profender so soon after the last dose?

2) Can cats get veruccas/ corns? On her dew claw pad (the one about ankle height) there are two small black areas and one looks like it has a root (like a wart) I have touched it and it's not causing here any discomfort but should I take her to the vet for treatment? As per most animals going to the vet is not her favourite activity and I don't want to cause her undue stress but obviously will take her for treatment if necessary.

Thanks in advance :)

tapeworms use fleas as a go between.... the flea ingests the tapeworm lava, then the cat ingests the flea whilst grooming - left untreated you will have worm central :(

iirc advocate treats fleas and roundworms but not tapeworms. profender treats tapeworms. however if there was a certain amount of time between treatments (not sure how long without researching) then it would be quite easy for tapeworms to reinfect

best is to apply advocate monthly and milbemax or drontal given every 3 months

    good luck
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
