Painting kitchen walls: questions

I've just applied the mist coat to the newly plastered kitchen walls, Dulux brilliant white matt emulsion diluted with 20% water, and there is one area where the paint is not covering at all well. It's where the builders chased into the newly plastered wall to hide boiler pipes and then plastered over the channel. Anyway, the painted surface in that area is more pink than white. Anyone know what is going on, and what I can do?
Also, some corners are formed from metal beading, the metal is slightly exposed along the edges. It does not take paint so well. What can I do to ensure it gets a proper coat?

Thanks. I did some spot painting along the beading using the emulsion and it did the trick. I spot painted the main area that did not cover well, and it's getting better. The third coat on the walls should do it.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0
