G & S there are some great info there especially regarding the grub screw. I believe i did give the hubs a good clean before fitting the new discs but may have over tightened the grub screw.

The old discs came off with a gentle tap with a hammer and i do mean gentle.

I did replace one side at a time.

SB please dont make assumptions. G & S suggested i may have got them from an auction site where as you implied. The parts came from a local cars spare shop as i also wouldn't trust an auction site.

you buy a brand name pair of shoes, the sole on the one is 1.0 mm thicker than the other shoe, causing you to feel the difference and limp slightly. because its branded you cant return it??

where you got this from i have no idea, ive had brembo discs land back on my desk when i worked in a motor factors, garage said in their opinion they were too thick, causing the pads to rub, garage sent them to us after 2 days of fitting them, he had a new set delivered, we returned the disc back to brembo who then refunded the cost.

there would be no difference in refunding or replacing them, had a customer brought them to us within a reasonable time with his concerned of the fault with correct packaging and reciept or debit credit card reciept. because its a car part doesnt waver a motor factor from a customers statatory rights.

it was company policy to take a reg number/company name/or customers name to correspond to the reciept, that way, had the customer lost his reciept but later needed it he only had to give us the month he bought the part along with his registration and the part he bought i.e brake discs, enter the reg number get the discs part number, retrieve past sales, look through past sales with a reciept printed with ref number (the reg or name).

with no disrespect to the OP but ive seen pads fitted the wrong way round so its metal to metal, caliper locating pins that are 2 inch nails with the end hammered over, pins completely missing so the caliper could lift up if braking hard (2 weeks ago this one)etc so i would be surprised if seller took them back with nothing but an address maybe the product you sold atrixblue.-MFR-. had a high rate of manufacturing returns due to shoddy materials used
    anyway OP
take everything apart check pad to pad disc to disc so that everything looks exactly the same as the ones you took off,i do this as a matter of course no matter what the box says and rebuild discs and pads back up,remember to clean off the oil protecter on the discs and go for a drive again, you might consider this car might have an already suggested suspension component that is faulty and causing the shudder by the way

    Hi

I've just fitted 2 new front brake discs and pads on my DW's Astra as the old discs were worn and i now have some serious shudder, coming through the steering, when you touch the brakes. Its speed related.

Have i installed something incorrectly or could i have a warped disc?

I installed as per Haynes manual instructions. If it is a warped disc how can i prove it?

Any help and advice would be gratefully recieved.

    Regards

    Akom

It could be a warped disc but worn track control arm bushes also give the same symptoms.

Proving a warped disc is easy - take the wheel off and spin the disc.

Took the car in for it's MOT and asked them to check the brakes before starting. They reported that the o/s disc was faulty. High spot or warped.

Anyway the car passed it's MOT. I then removed the faulty disc took it back to the supplier where he was only to happy to exchange it. Fitted the part this morning and it works a treat.

Big thanks to all you guys who offered your help and opinion. Saved me money which is what its all about :money:
