The above company, based in Carlisle, went into administration a couple of weeks ago and I've just received confirmation that it has gone bust, and is now in liquidation.

This is a warning to anyone affected that there are indications that money paid in advance, which should have been kept separate from the company's assets under the requirements of the REAL Assurance Scheme (thus protecting customers), were not - despite the company's legally-enforceable assurances.

Not good news for customers, and the first hint that there might need to be a police investigation, if customers' money has been misused in trying to keep the company afloat. There is also a possibility that the company was not paying the required premiums to Warranty Services Limited, which will mean that customers will not be able to claim to recover their money under the REAL Assurance Scheme either.

I'm waiting for more information from the liquidators, Tait Walker Advisory Services LLP, but as they are already only forecasting a 14p in the pound payout, things don't look good.
