How to clean Aluminium Steps

Hi, For some time I have been searching for my 5 tread Ally steps, after searching 3 sheds, garage, and the loft I asked my sons if they had taken them, eventually I found them at the back of the garden behind the trees where my other half had left them, they were as green as the trees so I had not noticed them before, now I have spent a long time trying to clean them, I have scrubbed them with detergent and used the steamer I clean my oven with, also used the jetwasher, the green has gone, but I still can't get them really clean and I want to use them indoors.
Can someone advise me what to use please.
Thanking you Drinda

If it's pitted i don't think you can clean it.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Waht has happened, I think, is that the aluminium has oxidised, leaving them looking black. There is no harm in this, except they don't look so good. If you can't accept them the way they are, you will need to remove the oxide layer with wire wool or similar, which will mean that they will no longer be shiny. Or buy a new set.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
