My partner is pretty mad, he loves F1 and has watched it since he was old enough to understand it.
Can't believe they are moving is to Sky Sports, I really don't want to pay an extra £20 a month for a year just so he can watch a couple of races each month from March-Sept !!
Not sure I can talk him out of it tho ;-(

is it more or less expensive than the beer sending him to watch it down the pub?Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
He doesn't drink at all, so i guess the beer option is out :P He likes to watch it in the evening once our daughter is in bed so he normally records them.0

Thanks for the warning. My DH will want this too.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

I think the BBC will be showing half the races live and full highlights of all the other races so if he doesn't watch it live anyway I don't see the point in him getting skyThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. Hmm if HE is the one who wants to watch it shouldnt HE be paying not you. I should imagine that there are lots of arguments up and down the country at the mo as blokes want to subscribe to Sky even though with partners and families they cant afford it. Im also willing to bet that a lot of them will expect their partner to go without something(s) so that they can have this rather than sacrifice something else of their own.
My husband used to love the Grand Prix but because they have messed around with it too much hes not that bothered.
He prefers the bikes too.0 -
if he doesnt watch til the evenings anyway then just wait for the highlights to be on bbc0

Lets face it its the most expensive sport going and money definately does all the talking - majority of f1 fans are the well heeled so probably have/could have sky subs anyway. Lesser well off fans can club together if its that important.
Sends me to sleep personally.0 -

Can't believe they are moving is to Sky Sports,
They aren't, you don't have your facts quite right.
They are SHARING F1 with the BBC. Sky will show ALL the races live. BBC will show 10 races live and have a highlights show for the others. So there will still be 10 races live (half the races), free-to-air, on the BBC.0 -
And the other 10 streamed live from foreign climbs via the internet. There are plenty of sites that link to live sports so you can watch for free.
Sky did try to stop joe public from doing this, but lost a High Court case against a Pub Landlady in Brighton.
My local shows Sky streamed from abroad.
Btw, the F1 teams are up in arms about it. Last time Sky entered the race to show F1, all the teams bar Ferrari decided to set up a rival series (GP1) and transfer all their F1 drivers, R&D, pit crew etc. over to the new formula. They even got as far as booking all the circuits that F1 had booked.
Luckily, Sky backed-down and pulled-out. What is needed is a concerted boycott of the Sky coverage (in other words, do not pay). When they lose a fortune, they will soon stop showing it.Never Knowingly Understood.

why not just get sky sports 1 or 2 and whenever sky are showing it, see which sky sports channel it's on and crossgrade.
i.e., if you have sports 1 and it's on 2, phone sky, ask them to remove sports 1 and put on sports 2. it won't affect your bill and, because it's a crossgrade, there's no need to give 30 days notice to take the unwanted sports channel off, it just gets swapped by the adviser.
£12.25 a month is better than £20 and if you're phone's with sky, the call's free aswellhelpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0
