:angry:Bt line rental saver -- you cannot port your call to another provider

HI,

Have a BT line, calls via talktalk as I have my BB with them.

Tried to do a line rental saver, but they insist on 2 calls a month via BTm which cannot be done since the calls are with talktalk. 1280 is now not possible.

Thus I will be charged 1.50 extra a month -- defeating the purpose of a line rental saver.

When you speak to a CS they will have that to have line rental saver, your call must be with BT -- but they will not put it in writing.

Your argument is with TalkTalk for them not allowing you to use a 1280 code to send your call via BT.

Only Bt have to allow override codes to send your calls to other operators; others don't.

The reason you cant use 1280 is because Talk Talk changed to using BT Wholesale's WCLI (Wholesale Calls Line Independent) to carry their subscribers' calls ,so your Talk Talk calls are already going over the BT network.

As, I believe, have Sky, Orange [STRIKE]and AOL[/STRIKE].

Trying to find a 'true' CPS provider these days is increasingly difficult.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • you can still use 1280 on AOL Talk ,as I use that in connection with line rental saver .

It works for me ,also on unlimited weekend part of Bt you can then do all those 0845 and 0870 calls that you need to do at the weekend for free having prefixed 1280 0f course :)

Er....its on the website, minimum calls reqd otherwise a extra charge raised, you could ask TT to put you on CPS insted of wholesale calls, but they may refuse, BT is a business and want you to make your calls with them, so the incentive on LRS is to move your calls to BT, if they were not already, dont like the calls part of the deal, simple, dont ask for LRS or accept that its going to be £1.50 extra for not making the required calls
