not sure where to post this
a year ago I met with solicitor to sort an estate out..he was supposed to sort tax out etc etc plus other things...nothing has been done, I have had a fine and reminders from tax office as the tax return wasn't done..all passed on to the solicitor!
help!! dreading getting debt collectors or summons to court...am sick of sending paperwork and letters and getting no reply...bet when he eventually does the work he will expect paying
tempting to say "swivel" to his bill..as we had a contract, he does work - I pay and he has broken it
ah thats better...any thoughts???

Write a letter of complaint to the senior/managing partner of the firm and if that doesn't work then I recomment reporting them to the legal ombudsman as they obviously aren't doing their job.0

Solicitors, they are an awful sensitive bunch, so I won't slate them too much.;)
A strong letter, copied to the head of company that you will be expecting they pick up the fines they have occurred in your name and that their apology and guarantee this will not happen again be forthcoming.0 -
it's the Solicitors Regulatory Authority you need to contact- but I suspect they will expect you to have exhausted the companies complaints proceudre BEFORE you contact them0

I agree with the above person's recommendation. You try your best to get the issue solve at your level by contacting the company seniors and the head repeatedly. If after many times, they do not take any action go to the Solicitors Regulatory Authority and let them know all. They will help you then.0

Solicitors are known to be hopeless on dealing with this kind of thing. You think they are getting on with it but if you don't keep on at them your work just goes to the bottom of the pile.0

I feel your pain - I got divorced with legal aid. I knew Id have to pay the legal aid back. 8 months after the absolute came through I still had not had a final bill despite numerous calls and emails and a request in person. I was just told its complicated to work out. In the end I went balistic, being on benefits waiting for a huge bill is so worrying and obviously saving is pretty impossible. I offered to pay numerous times some instalments. I found out in my final balistic phonecall you cant do that on legal aid, they ask you if you are deemed able to pay.
Anyway during this balisitc call I demand a final bill, I said get of your chair, walk to the finance dept and add it up yourself if they cant do it as I know they had the account 8 months ago. Lo and behold she did and within 5 mins I knew the total. I asked her why no one else could so this. She was speechless, just kept saying about the so called statements they send. All 3 identical emails quotes of £200. She then tried to tell me I HAD to put a thing (I forget the name) on my house to make sure I paid I refused to have any dealings with them and would not sign and requested they just send it off to the legal commision chappies. I was assured they would. The last email from my solicitor was rude, arrogant and down right lies. Good job I keep all my paperwork
Its been 6 months, not heard a thing yet from the legal services commision. Go figure! The documents are probably still sat on her very untidy desk somewhere. I am certainly not chasing it up!Life happens, live it well.0 -
Oh I forgot to say (sorry was in rant mode lol) , I had to complain to a seinor partner, they did a bit of grovelling and made her write a formal apology to me. It was 3 lines but well worth the effort. I dont like being treated as second class just cos I am a single mum on benefits (I am disabled) I suggest you look in their waiting area for a complaints procedure, thats where I got my leaflet from. I would also insist he pays any bills you recieve due to his incompetence. I would ask senior partner to review his ability to deal with this part of law and ask to see his certifications. Give them hell and dont give up. Id also ask them to place your account with a different more able solicitor.
Good luck xxLife happens, live it well.0 -

You can bet the fines and charges will be paid out of the estate - hidden as HMRC charges etc. Check all the breakdowns carefully0
