    OH swears by Astonish cleaner.We get it for 99p from the local warehouse shop .It is in a tub and is a thick orange cream

    i use a baby wipe dipped in a bit of ash, works a treat

  • we have one.... when glass is clean use Autosolvol (Chrome cleaner for cars) on it and polish with brown paper..... nice n sparkly.... not sure if it works with coal tho :D
  • Another vote for using ash here. I use a damp rag dipped in the cool ash, rub all over, then use the other end of the rag to wipe it away. Comes out perfect - and it's free, and eco friendly. :)
  • Damp cloth and ash from the fire, works every time

  • Hi Cuddlymarm i usually use a sponge scourer and a hot water with washing up liquid in to cut through the greasy soot, BSB
