Tenerife Holiday - Advice

Hi All,

Yesterday I booked my first holiday outside the UK in quite a few years. I am going to Tenerife with my partner and purchased my holiday through 'Onethebeach.co.uk'. We are travelling the first week in September.

As I've not travelled in a while I was hoping I could get some advice on some of the below queries.

Firstly, I'm going to be taking around £250 - £300 spending money and my partner the same. We are only going for 7 days and don't plan on doing much aside from lazing around the pool or hitting the beaches and maybe the odd restaurant and bar.

Would it be wise to take the whole spending money in cash, or put it all on one of those prepaid currency cards? I was thinking of splitting it so I had some money on the card and some hard cash.

Also, is it worth waiting closer to the time to purchase the currency or should I just make a move once I see a reasonable rate?

Also, any recommendations in terms of travel insurance? I have read Martins guide and been on comparison sites, but just wondered if anyone had any particular recommendations or advice?

Anyway, thats it from me, for now....! :)

Money depends on where you'll be going/staying. I'm only going to be sitting around the pool so am taking my money in cash to make things easy for myself. As it is only a few hundred no issue keeping it in the safe and will be using it mainly for drinks and tips. If your going to be going on excursions or restaurants you might consider a pre-paid card for half and cash for half. It depends if you'll be wanting money for things that cannot be paid for by card. Get cash once you see a good deal, I got mine in the co-op travel shop which I've always been found to be very competitive.

For travel insurance I mainly use Endsliegh, about £25 for a single trip to Europe and good cover.

Hope you have a fantastic time.
