Hi all, as the title says, I am looking for somewhere to eat that has on site parking that is between Exeter and Plymouth - we are off on holiday on Thursday and would like to eat down in Devon.
We have eaten at the Beefeater on the outskirts of Plymouth before, but would like somewhere different.
We want on site parking so that we can keep half an eye on the car.
Many thanks.

For a great carvery, at silly cheap price, I haven't had anything other than the roast for a while but the rest of their food was always very good, I can recommend http://www.oldmanorinns.com/lynehaminn.htm
It is though on the outskirts of Plymouth, so not much good if you're closer to Exeter.
There's a car park, kids play area, and large conservatory.0 -
We're travelling down from Bristol and going on the overnight ferry to France. That looks good, thank you.0

I hope that you enjoy if that's where you go.
If I can think of any others I'll update the thread, most places I can think of your car would need to be left in a car park.0 -
Its a 2 and half hour drive ? will you starve to death in 2 and a half hours, 3 at tops ?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Vax - We thought we would leave home at around 5pm for a leisurely drive and have tea once in Devon - the start of our holiday, thats all. Ferry leaves at about 11pm, so it's a bit late for us (with children) to eat once on board.0

Yes the Lyneham inn is always very busy. There isn't too much choice between Exeter and Plymouth itself without diverting too far off the main A38 road. The Turtley Cornmill at Avonwick is lovely but a bit pricey and I think no children after 7 or 7:30. http://www.turtleycornmill.com/
If you're looking for value for money, then in Plymouth itself is the China House which is in the Vintage Inns chain. I've never had a bad meal there, the portions are generous and very friendly staff. The pub is on the waterfront and is lovely on a summer's evening. I don't know how young your children are but if practical, you could get there for 7:30 ish. You'd have plenty of time to enjoy your meal and then have a little wander around the Barbican waterfront (get an ice-cream, watch the boats come and go) before driving the short distance to the ferry. There is parking in front of the pub and if the weather is favourable, you can sit outside and keep an eye on the car (not that you need to watch it that closely, it's very secure there). It can get a bit busy though so I'd recommend booking a table or getting there early enough to have time to wait for a table to become available.

Mad trekker - that's fab. We have a vintage inn near us and the food is great there! Thank you. Just got to decide which one to go to now.0
