Help please - Acer Aspire laptop touchpad problem

Hallo Any assistance gratefully received.

My DD's Acer Aspire laptop 5732Z touchpad has stopped working. Its just 2 years old. The function keys work but not the touchpad. Any ideas? I am not sure if its broken or been turned off somehow. However its not obvious how to turn it back on if thats been done! I do not have a usb mouse to see if that works (but have ordered one from Amazon). I have taken the battery out and still nothing.

Any other ideas what I do?

Thanks

Richmond

Does the keyboard on your laptop lift off as then you can check if theres a loose connection between the touchpad and the motherboard, otherwise check the windows setting usually under mouse to see if its active.

Or using the keyboard , press windows key and arrow up/down keys to select control panel, then look for the touchpad in there (probably as synaptics ?) see if it is turned off . Alternately there should be a fn/option on one of the function keys on my lappy its f10 ...looks like a touchpad with two buttons at the bottom of it and a X in the middle..

Edited of course mine is a Samsung , but the symbols seem to be similar , so press and hold the Fn key and then the square with X in it button .

Try the little bar thing next to the on/off swich, on the left. Looks like a hand on a square.

Sorry to jump on the back of this thread, but I have a similar problem with an ACER Aspire 5920. I've tried going through the pointer and mosue functions through the control panel, but it looks like it is set up correctly....was just tapping and suddenly saw the hand on square button - F7 on this model - and yippee it works! So thank you Mrs Chaucer.
