For a lounge, around 6x4m? This is to remove old plasterboard ceiling, put up new plasterboard and skim?
Also this would be in Surrey!

I had quotes round the £300 to £400 mark to overboard a ceiling. The house is a building site so no need to protect furniture, carpets etc. These were building firms not tradesmen so they take their cut. But I'm not sure a plasterer would be so interested in one ceiling. Anyway, get 3 quotes and choose. By the way why remove the old ceiling? Standard practice is to overboard, it's less messy and cheaper, and 12.5 mm board is usual.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0

I thought we had paid a lot but now maybe not!
A large bedroom (12ft sq with chimney breast and a curved topped alcove) completely reskimmed including boarding ceiling first, fitting polystyrene backed plasterboard (approx 6) to outer walls first; skimming small bedroom ceiling; multiple channels and sockets and switches throughout after rewire. Total £940 inc the cost of the insulated boards (£90 approx) and removing old skirtings in the room that was redone. We felt the £420 for front room was very good, but the rest we thought a tad expensive but on looking at this thread I think its about right. If I had a pound for every pound I'd lost, I'd be confused0
