Hi all
I've just had a four month break in employment, therefore wasn't paying income tax. How do I go about claiming back the tax on the interest on my savings - is there a special form or do I just tell my bank my changing circumstances?
Thanks.

SnowyOwl - if your earnings in the current tax year (2004-05) are more than your personal tax allowances then you will not be able to reclaim any of the tax paid on savings interest. If you have earned less than this then the best thing to do is contact your tax office. It may be worth contacting them anyway because you may be due a refund on your PAYE.0

At the end of the tax year, fill in form R40 and you will get some of the tax back.... depending on what the figures you put onto the form come up with.0 -
