hi
why not find a campsite near Barry and see if you can find any last minute deals from the direct owners sites?
i dont know the area very well so dont know the names of the campsites nearest to south cardiff but found this one near Barry ...that says it is available..

i dont think there is a caravan site in cardiff but this is close 15 -20 mins depending on where in cardiff
http://www.fontygaryparks.co.uk/ & it has a beach its very nice
if you google penarth campsites that is even closer but i can not say if they are any good ive not been to them !0 -
The postcode is Penarth. There are no Pontins or Haven parks nearby. Trecco Bay in Porthcawl is probably the closest one with the facilities you want and is about 30 miles / 50 mins away. Google it and take a look.
Penarth itself is a lovely place. I'd be inclined to stay there in a small hotel or b and b and take the kids out:
Day 1 Crabbing on the beach at Penarth (mostly pebbles) followed by sandwiches and ice cream on the pier
Day 2 Barry Island - superb sandy beach with rocky headlands and two funfairs - fish and chips for lunch
Day 3 St Fagans - a great day out and free of charge
Hope the trip goes well!0
