How can I save my Favourites?

I've recently had to re-install my whole operating system and one of the worst things of all was losing my favourites. I've tried to work out how to back up things but still really find it all muddling. But.. at the very I would like to be able to save my favourites somewhere somehow. Would I be able, for example, email the entire thing to Hotmail and keep it there? I just don't know.

I'd appreciate any help with this.

You should be able to export them to a file which you can save. Which browser ?

If using IE7 you may have to reveal the Menu Bar first by right clicking an area of grey at the top of the browser and select menu bar, then File, Import Export, Next, then follow the onscreen instructions and save the file to a recognisable folder like My Documents then send to yourself or just leave it in My Documents and when you back up any documents include that bookmark.htm file aswell.
  • Go to My Computer > C:/ > Documents And Settings > 'Your User Name' > favourites

attach your favs to an email and sen them to your self
  • when i format i save my favs to disc simply burn to cd then save to pc after format replace new fav folder with one on disc

I always use this method but instead of emailing them I save them to either CD\DVD or Memory stick . Nothing worse than losing favourites then trying to remember them all

Thanks a lot for all the advice. I know it seems simple now but I didn't have much of a clue whether it would work or not.

I've emailed them to me in Hotmail and they appear as a list of links in the email. Is there some quick way to put them back as favourites if i ever need to? or, do I have to click on each one seperately and save it that way?

Just do as I said earlier and select Import and find the file bookmark.html from where you saved it and voila...or is it hey presto
