If the will has been through probate, which it sounds like it has, it is a public document and anyone can obtain a copy from the Probate Registry ..costs £6. The executor would not be aware that a copy has been requested.

    Details here

The executor is duty bound to distribute the estate according to the will, if they don't they can be liable for any payments not made.

Bear in mind, what people SAY they have put in a will, and what turns out to be the case, can often be very different, for all sorts of reasons. Is it possible that the person changed their will, but your father is not aware, and worked from an earlier version ?

The executor deals with all aspects of the will, including distributing to beneficiaries, they could be a solicitor but don't have to be. The executor can be any competent person(s) nominated in the will - if they are happy to do the job, there may be no solicitor involved at all.

You need to get a copy of the will to know for certain if you are named or not ...
