Financial help? Who to see?

Hiya,
I am currently employed part time, and recently started my own business. I do more than full time hours if you take both 'jobs' in to account. My husband also works full time, and we have 2 small children. We are on a low income so get some benefits too (housing, council tax & tax credits).
I have been in my employed role for 6 years, and now feel like I would eventually like to stop this job in order to concentrate on, and grow, my business.
Obviously., before I make any decisions, I would like to make sure that that option would be financially a good idea, and was wondering if there was any organisations etc that I could contact to find out what would happen with things like my housing benefit and tax credits first?

Any ideas about who to speak to would be much appreciated!

Thanks
