No harm in re-applying. They may have offered the position to someone, but that person may have had another, much better, job offer and taken that instead, hence the re-advertisement of the position.

Never assume it is being advertised again just because they failed to find the right candidate.

It could be that someone else has left or they need an exra person to help with the work.

You've got nothing to loose but chances are they are re-advertising because no-one met what they wanted the first time.

Or the person selected for the role was Useless or they walked out of the job after a few days as it didn't meet their expectations.

    Yes certainly apply again

I'd definetly apply again, examine the advert carefully and tweak your application and CV so that you stick out as a good candidate. if they do recognise you from the first time they might see it as a dedicated person who clearly wants the job! good luck
  • As a former recruiter, I would advise the OP to call the recruiter and ask what their chances are rather than resubmitting. If they do this without knowing a) if they're able to (some have a 6 month policy) or b) where they went wrong, then there is no point. OP, good luck.

    i have re-applied

i tweaked the CV slightly and downgraded the salary expectation
hoping that might make me a bit more attractive to the recruiter

I applied for a job on the 7th july and got the standard letter back 3 days later sorry you have been unsuccessful this time - with the however should any further positions become available we will keep your details etc etc

well yesterday evening i am looking again and see the post being re-advertised

would you re-apply again ? or drop them an email

    Jen.

I had seen a job advertsied EVERY months since January and I applied for it every time I saw it advertised and on the 7th time got an interview.

Sometimes they turn people down without ever looking at all the CV's or maybe they took someone on and they turned the job down and are looking again. I would re apply

thought id let you all know

got exactly the same standard letter back this morning well over night was sent at 4,30am !

So this time I emailed straight back about 8am this morning asking for feed back - got a reply this afternoon saying that i didnt have enough experience but thank you blah blah blah

In fact Ive been doing the same job for 15 + years, SO rightly or wrongly I replied back saying thanks for the feedback but if 15 yrs is not experiance enough then so be it but thank you replying

Well within 20 mins it came back again stating sorry it was a standard letter that was sent! and sorry if I felt upset by its contents and they would endovour to find out exactly why ( i didn't reply after that)

I am not that bothered now by this company, it obviously wasn't meant to be - so on wards and upwards to the next application

Ah well at least you lost nothing by giving it a go and now you know that most of the recruitment procedure is done automatically without anyone actually reading anything.. onward and upward.
