They seem very slow and firm with their responses. You're right that there's the 14day cooling off period, but I called them to inquire where my money was on 16 August - funds matured on 31 July, hence I was 2 days late.
From what you say, it does sound a bit harsh, good luck with pursuing it through the FOS, hope it works out in your favour.

If I'm receiving my funds back from a fixed term bond, its usually via BACS transfer, if I don't get it paid into my current account in 3 or 4 days after the maturity date I would be on the phone asking where it was, as usually its a fair old chunk and wouldn't want to lose out from not being able to re-invest it elsewhere.make sure you keep an eye upon maturity date
Oh yes, again usually have already found and opened a new fixed term bond a couple of days before the old one matures, ready to fund it once the funds hit my current accountNever let the perfume of the premium overpower the odour of the risk0
