Renting with GF temp job.

Hi. My GF has recently graduated from uni and has started a job covering maternity leave til March next year. She currently lives with her parents, but we are planning to move in together in late September.
I live in a small studio flat at the moment which is barely big enough for me, never mind the 2 of us, so we are looking for a cheap 1 bedroom.

My question is, would my GF's temp job be a problem reference wise? I have a full time job and would just be able to afford the flat on my own with my salary. Plus in the 6 months before her job ends, she will be applying for other jobs, and there is a good chance the company she works for now will keep her on.

Hopefully shouldn't be a problem for girlfriend getting a reference, especially if you can afford the rent yourself.

I was in a temp job when I moved into my current rental. I believe my landlord contacted the agency I was working for.

  • I run a recruitment agency. I get employment confirmation requests from letting agents all the time.

So I cant see it being too much of a problem, although I guess every letting agent has their own individual policy.

It might be worth asking an agent before you view any of their properties.
  • I rented whilst in temp job and then I got a mortgage with one although it was a low LTV. Should not be any problem especially as you have a permanent job.

Thanks for the advice. We have viewed a couple and the agent said it shouldn't be a problem.
