  • It is possible, but they will probably fight if you just put them together at their age.

I have sucessfully had males living together in the past. They need to be neutered, and then you need to do a gradual introduction process over a period of time. It's not guaranteed to work though.

If you want your rabbit to have a companion (and I strongly believe that this is the best way to keep rabbits, since they are social animals who mostly do not enjoy solitary confinement) you'd really be better off getting your boy neutered and then getting him a neutered female of a similar age from a rescue. That would have a much better chance of success.

If you've already got the rabbit from next door then I would firstly get both of them neutered and then do a google search on 'bonding male rabbits', there is lots of info out there from people with far more experience than me.

Good luck, I hope you can make it work!

Even so, a friend of his own kind is what he really needs. Imagine yourself living in solitude with only the company of a rabbit for a few hours a day, and nothing else. Most animals benefit from the company of another of their own species.

You should do a google search for rabbit forums. There are a few out there and they're packed with loads of info specific to keeping rabbits as happy and healthy as possible.
