Hi, i would like to paint my bathroon blue but blue is a nightmare to get right so i thought i would go for a flat matt period style blue. Could anyone recommend a blue which is not dark and ideally not expensive.....
Many thanks

i had dulux celestial cloud 6 mixed in their flat matt for my hallway and it looks good, really brightened things up. dunno how good it'd be in a bathroom, but it has been able to take some scrubbing without showing marks
colour-wise it's close to farrow+ball's borrowed light but it works out a bit cheaper0 -
Hi, I like Dulux's Blue Babe. I've attached a link, which I hope works, to Brewers' Designer Paint selection. They have Dulux and also the more expensive ranges. I know there is a F&B very similar to Blue Babe (can't remember exactly) so I'm considering it for my Victorian house. Hope this link should give you some ideas.
Edit: F&B similar colour is Cook's Blue (hopefully not just for kitchens!!)

thanks both! i am liking the celestial cloud, looks more period than powder blue which i always seem to end up with! would you say looking at the link below the cloud 6 is there or thereabouts shade wise?

Blue babe is nice but I think a little too 'blue' for me......0 -
i know what you mean, i tried about 6 different shades until i found the one for me
the dulux pic isn't great - in real life it kind of changes from a pale blue to grey depending on the light and as i say it's mixed in flat matt so has a more chalky finish too (although not as chalky as f+b)
i've put a few photos for you to see, although to be really sure a tester is the only way to go

Try Crown's "a whisper of powder blue". We just put it in our dining room and it is lovely.

Really don't bother looking at colours on a screen. Even if you've spent a fortune on colour profiling software it just isn't that useful.
Farrow and Ball do a great shade card and Fired Earth do as well. I think they both do tester pots.
When you find a colour you like take the sample to an independent retailer that does paint mixing many of them can 'scan' the colour and then mix it for you in one of the cheaper ranges. It's rarely exactly the same texture and finish but it is a way of saving money and getting close to what you want and saving money.0
