Can Anyone Offer Advice? Whirlpool Washer Problems

Hi there,

We're looking for some advice regarding our washer. Whirlpool AWOD 4505. We bought second hand off a neighbour who promised it was in perfect working order. Has been in storage for a while, but not running too well now. Have searched for similar issues, but can't find any postings with our issue.

The main issue is that it doesn't seem to be filling up enough on the wash or rinse phases of the cycle. The clothes are getting wet but there's not much water splashing around. We've checked the water fill (including the little filter) and it's all clear. We've checked the filter, which has a little residue, but clearing that hasn't remedied it. We ran it empty and the water barely comes above the bottom of the drum.

Secondly, there's a strange noise. Best to describe it as something catching or grinding. Mainly occurs when the drum is spinning on wash, not so much on the spin - but it's intermittent.

Would really appreciate any advice or guidance - we've had a good read through the manual and haven't been able to sort it.
