You will find that most kettles are 3 KW and noisy, some are 2.2 KW and a lot quieter, but a bit slower.

I don't think some of you have purchased a kettle for some time. The new range of 3kw kettles, have "Quiet boil" or "Stealth" technology. We have purchased a Breville, polished S/S as they did not have a brushed version, and it is lovely and quiet, BUT we now have another problem, we cannot get rid of the metallic/plasticky taste in our tea & coffee. Have tried all the usual methods, boiled and emptied about 20 times, used Bicarbonate of Soda boiled up twice, but the taste remains. Any ideas ??

Phoned Breville Customer Services, who immediately said "It's a faulty kettle, take it back to the retailer and they will change it. Must be a bad batch". Took it back to Comet, got a refund, and then purchased another one from Currys, so as to ensure it was from a different batch! Result - exactly the same problem. Took it back after 2 days and have now bought a cheap one from ASDA, works very well, half the price, but NOISY as hell! Oh! well, it's only on for a couple of minutes and we were not boing to pay £50 for one of the fancy overpriced jobs.
