Compensation While On Benefits

Hi was wondering if any one could help me.
im currently on income support and housing benefit, im due to recieve some compensation £4000 in the coming weeks and wasnt sure of the way the dwp are on this. will i need to declare this to the dwp and if so will it affect the amount of benefit i recieve, any help would be much appriciated

You only need to declare it if it takes you over the £6000 IS savings limit, if it does it will be disregarded for 52 weeks if its a PI payout.0
