BT and 18185 Bills show charges for calls made at the same time

Apologies if anyone has already posted about this but I have just compared my 18185 bill and my BT bill because I was puzzled about a charge for £16.98 on the BT bill.

BT charged me for a number shown as 118501 named 'Directory' lasting 11 minutes.

At the same time and date I made a number of calls using 18185 (made to various shops querying if they had something in stock - approx 11 mins) and the numbers are all itemised on the 18185 bill. I was charged just over £1 by 18185.

The 118501 and 18185 numbers are rather similar but how can BT have got in on the act as well? Something seems odd. This is not the first time I have had this number showing up but I did not check against my 18185 bill before now.

Wondered if anyone else has had this problem? I can't get any sense out of BT (call centre) and I can't find where to contact 18185 on their website.

Wondering whether to cancel 18185?

    Its 18185 not 185185.:D

    118501 is a Intl directory service. http://www.118502.co.uk/118501.php

See https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3360428 on how to contact 18185.

Are you sure you are dialling correctly? You repeatedly typed 185185 above when, I think you mean 18185.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • :p Oops. Bit flustered about all this. Back to edit again! But I definitely got the 18185 bill so did dial correct number!
