Elderly Mother - benefits?

My elderly mother has lived with me for almost two years because of dimishing mobility issues. She has pensions of about £11k per annum and is in receipt of no benefits. I earn £46k per year but on a practical level, I am struggling with covering all her requirements (she can look after her personal care but she is dependant upon me for housework, shopping, gardening, doctor's appointments etc etc. In fact, she doesn't go out unless I drive her) She can only walk extremely slowly for about 10 minutes but in pain and discomfort. Do you think that we are entitled to any benefits? Thanks, J.

She may be entitled to claim Attendance Allowance if she has care needs. Unfortunately, mobility is not taken into cosideration for this Benefit.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
How old is your mother?Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

If your mother lives in your home, surely she doesn't need to do any shopping, housework or gardening of her own?
On her income and with low outgoings, can't she afford a taxi for the occasional doctor's appointment?0 -
Hi, she's 76. I travel with my job so I'm not always around. It is getting to the point where I may need to arrange for someone to come in when I am away on business travel. Thanks for the replies thus far.0

I think that's a really good idea. It's fortunate that you and your mother have a good income to cover the costs of this.0
