Creda JetSpa 9.5kW - running too hot?

Hi all,
I've had this electric shower fitted for about 7 months and about a month ago, it suddenly started running very hot - even when set to cold. It has 3 power settings and it's always been on 3, when on 1 & 2 the temporary is less burning but of course has less pressure. So on setting 3 I have been putting it to as cold as possible via the knob, but that is almost too hot to be under.
The cold water feed has never changed, it's a bungalow and no one else has access to the cold water tank above (in the roof space). I thought it might be because of the high temps in the roof space, but the copper pipe feeding the electric shower feels like it's at a normal temperature.
I've checked the interior and the various cogs aren't clogged or faulty and move freely, so it's not the outside knob being out of contact with them.
I've removed the shower head in case a calcium blockage (hard'ish water area) is making it run at a higher pressure and effecting temperature, but it doesn't change.
Any clues would be great, it's still in warranty (although I bought it off a well known online auction site) and I have registered for Creda support, just have to wait for it to happen. But I just wondered if anyone else has had this problem?
Look forward to hearing from anyone!
Chris

I know that you mentioned that the water pressue drops on setting 1 or 2, but have you noticed that when the water gets extremely hot on the highest setting that the water pressure also drops?
An electric shower as you can imagine works by passing cold water over a heating element. The slower the water passes over the element the more time it has to be heated, which is why a cooler setting will always give more pressure.
If the inlet spigot becomes clogged up with limescale or other debris then it will reduce the flow of water to the extent that it spends far too long near the element and gets too hot. In some cases this will trigger an automated shutoff but not always immediately. If you can access the inlet spigot and clean it out it may resolve your problem.
What shower do you have by the way?0 -

Hi T&T,
Thank you so much for responding, sorry for the delay but I didn't get an email notification (my fault).
Yes you're right that the water pressure drops on hot - I also noticed (sorry I didn't mention before), but there is a red light on the case itself that comes on, when it's on. However I noticed if I put it on max hot on the 3rd setting, the light goes out and only returns if I return to a colder setting.
If I take the case off will the inlet spigot be clearly the problem? I'll definitely have a look, thank you very much.
I put the make and model of the shower in the thread heading, is this what you wanted or is there an additional description. I know that the model number is 63-676701.
Thanks again,

Your electric shower is (or should be) fed direct from the rising main, so the temp of the water in the loft tank is not relevant. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

I'm afraid the previous occupant took a feed from the cold water tank in the loft on this occasion. :wall:If someone is worth thanking - click on the 'Thanks' button on their response. It's just a nice thing to do :-)

So the pressure will be entirely inadequate, and you need to get the plumbing corrected, the shower is designed to run on mains presssure. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

You are totally right, but this isn't my property. The pressure has always been perfectly adequate, although never exactly a power shower - but I have short hair so I'm not bothered about pressureIf someone is worth thanking - click on the 'Thanks' button on their response. Then its incorrectly installed. Its easy to fix seeing as you will have a cold mains riser in the roof to feed the tank and a feed pipe for the shower in the same location. There could be all sorts of reasoins for this situation (not the least of which is you emptying the tank as you shower thus reducing the flow rate) and yes if its tank fed its more than likely that the inlet filter is clogged. However, first thing to do is fix the plumbing.
Incidentally the pressure won't be changing. Its the flow rate.

Then get the landlord to fix it-it will not work properly while set up that way, as you've found out.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
