You do not have to be eleven to be conned
I am an intelligent mature woman
I clicked on an App apparently recommended by my friend who is on Facebook. It was a sort of game it appeared. Click here it said to see who looks at your account. It was an inane thing and I was curious. I then clicked the bit where I allowed them to have accessto my details. (I have no details that anyone could want on there for goodness sake) Anyway then it would not let me see the result unless I gave my mobile phone number. I remember that part. I did not notice the text message telling me to unsubscribe ot they would take £10.00/ I mean how could they take £10.00? Apparently they can. It will be on my phone bill. Happily last night I heard the phone text sound and was first alerted to the scam. I did phone back and followed their rules to unsubscribe. Hoe dare they steal my money? What was ~I subscribing to? I had received nothing in any case. I have simply been conned and had money stolen from me. They have then gone on to use my friends list to approach others since another friend has complained to me about it. I am very cross and really want to know how to get my £10.00 back!

I thought it was well known that its not possible to see who has viewed your profile on Facebook and all services that say they offer this ability are scams.
I can't see how you can get your money back though if they did warn you in advance that you would be charged £10, you not noticing it isn't really an excuse unless it was particularly hidden.0 -
my 11 year old has pay as you go, on fri a text came through saying he had been signed up to gazzup. He was a sleep at the time and the computer had been off all evening (router was off also). I sent a stop message and phoned them today. They are adamant I accessed this service, and also had no record of me sending the STOP text. I have phoned the phone company who say they have no record of the text being sent or how the £10.00 was taken, they can see the STOP text I sent in reply. I have today emailed gazzup asking for an explanation. I can prove that It was not authorized, however the phone company will charge for a copy of the records because it is pay as you go. I have asked for gazzup to confirm that they will pay for these costs as well as a refund. The help line is a farce as they will do nothing, all they say is to Email. What annoys me is the money was on for emergencies as he has just started secondry school. He usually keeps it off in his bag and I was charging it for the following week.0

No online account for the phone? (My daughter has a PayGo account with Orange and we have online access wherein all call and texts etc. for the previous 30 days are visible).0

Son needs some lessons on being savvy on the interweb. Companies that advertise in this way probably claim all sorts of unsuspecting victims - they're a miserable fact of our digital lives. Problem is they probably operate within the law (just) so the only protection we have is our own sense and wisdom. Perhaps this 11 year old is simply too young to have unsupervised access at the moment."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Why did you think that giving your mobile number would be required for somone to allow you access to Facebook ? They haven't stolen your money, you signed up to their subscription. Don't think you'll see anything of your £10 again, as long as you've unsubscribed now you shouldn't have any problems. Personally, i would never click on any link on FB, especially if it's asking you for access to your details, you can't verify where it's come from, it's not safe. I get this link nearly every day, saying it's from my friends, if you're not sure, contact the friend who has allegedly sent the link to you.0 -
I have just had £10 taken off my O2 pay as you go account by Grazzup. I am mystified how this has been done as I have not clicked on anything, in fact my phone was beside me on the table when two texts arrived. I will be contacting O2 first thing in the morning and will update then. In the meantime has anyone else suffered at the hands of Grazzup?0

I called Grazzup on the helpline number given, 0800 4080782, and was told that I had subscribed to their premium rate competetion service. For the princely sum of £10.00 I now had the chance to win an iphone by taking part in their online competition.
I was told that I had entered my mobile number on their website, received a text containing a pin number to my phone, then had put this into the site to subscribe.
I was mystified as I had not been near the web all evening, hadn't received a text with a pin and hadn't subscribed to their crummy service, but still they had manged to extract a tenner from my pay as you go account.
I told the man I wanted to unsubscribe so as not to get any more charges and demanded my money back. I was told to email them at u k @ grazzup.com which I have done. I will update further once I get a response.
I also called O2 customer services who were less than helpful but suggested I make a complaint to phonepayplus who are the regulator for premium rate phone services. I have done this, via thier web site, and will update further once I get a response.0 -
I realise that the members on this thread who have a high post count have made up their collective minds that anybody who has been caught out by these charges have only got themselves to blame, but the fact is that Grazzup.com are 100% scammers.
There is no address on their website. The only way to contact them is either via email or an 0800 phone number. However the Domain Registration gives an address in the Netherlands.

Web of Trust says 'This site has a poor reputation'

The consensus of the commenters on WOT is that this is a mobile phone quiz scam. Indeed on this thread devoted to gift program scams in general, WOT member Shazza says 'Mobile phone quiz scam promoted through Facebook phishing app, 'profile stalker' -hanzelviewz.tk'

Now I know some of you are going to say ah yeah well these eejits must have entered their mobile phone number somewhere so it's all their fault for not reading the Ts and Cs but, according to some of the posters on the gift program scam thread, several of these shyster sites offer extra 'rewards' if you give somebody else's mobile number. So Fluffnutter, if I knew your mobile number, I could give them that and you'd be charged a tenner a week for the privilege.
Hanzelviewz.tk does actually have its own website. The entire content consists of 'Goto http apps.facebook.com/yourapp' . The site gets another dreadful rating from WOT and, once again it's registered in the Netherlands.

Anybody who has been caught out by these scum (because that's what they are) should contact Phonepayplus immediately.

It looks like I am going to get my money back. Today I received the following email
Dear Tony,
Thank you for contacting us.
It is unfortunate that there has been a mistake in our system and as a gesture of goodwill we will refund the amount of 10£ .
In order to process your refund we will need your full name and postal address. When we have received this information we will send you another email with a a barcode. You will need to print out this barcode and go to your local postal office to collect your refund.
Many thanks
Best Regards
Customer Care
I am a tad dubious about giving my full details to scammers but hey a tenner is a tenner.
I have to say the advice from the so called regulator, phonepayplus, was not encouraging. They suggested I contact the company with phone records to prove I had not sent the subscibing text in the first place. As has been posted previously getting pay as you go bill details costs and would likely be more than my original loss.
What is worrying in all this is that someone managed to take money from my phone with no authority whatsoever on my part. All was was doing was quietly watching TV with my phone by my side. I know folks will say you must have clicked on some link or other but I can assure you I did absolutely nothing other than have a phone, have it switched on and have credit in my account.
Other posts in this thread indicate the same thing has happened to other people so I suspect the 'mistake in our system' at Grazzup is something more sinister.0
