On JSA, got a job but not for a month...

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help. I have been on JSA since March. I just found out I got a job (yay!) but, it's not starting until end August. Does anyone know if I will still be able to get JSA until then? Or will it stop now?

you can claim untill the day before you are due ti start , if you go see your advisor and let them know you have a job they may be able to help with anything you need to start such as travel and clothing

In order to claim JSA you need to still be actively job seeking.

no you can claim till the day before you start work if you have been on jsa and get a job ..

But you still need to be actively seeking employment in order to satisfy the conditions of entitlement to JSA.

Cool...that's great advice. So you are saying that someone can stay on JSA till next year without looking for work with a job offer as that when the job starts. It's a job (the one that I had previously been offered) that requires high security clearance and takes about 6 months to process.

if you have proof of the job you need to go see your advisor ..and to be honest even if you "look" for work you won't neccary plan on taking another job

It's advice that will get you disallowed JSA.

The fundamental condition of Jobseeker's Allowance is that you are actively jobseeking - the clue is in the name.

You'll be expected to look for temporary work AND/OR permanent work with a sooner start date. With a potential start date 6 months off, your adviser may well insist on the latter and they would be well within the rules to do so.

I was on JSA for 3 weeks, and then got a job offer. I rang the JCP immediately and they told be they couldn't sign me off until my start date, then once they had my start date they could sign me off the date before. Until then I had to continue to job seek. Luckily it was only a week, but I still had to sign on.
