Hiya guys I was just wondering if some of you could help me find the cheapest trains tickets from Cardiff to London. I'm looking to leave on the 3rd Jan 07 and return the same day. We want to be in London for about 9.30 in the morning and to be back in Cardiff for about 7.30 in the evening. There will be two of us traveling me (Standard adult) and my mother (Pensioner)
We going up for the day to go on the London eye, I think the closest station is London waterloo, but I'm not entirely sure, that is why I need your guys help. I've been looking for hours now and I'm getting really confused. Can somebody help me out please

Cheapest train fare I can find is £108 return for 2. Although the national express is half that. If going for train book through quidco for the trainline.0

Can't help on train fares, but I am assuming that you will arrive at Paddington Station. You can take the Bakerloo underground line from Paddington to Waterloo Station, which is the nearest to the Eye.Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. - Proust0

Hi. You face two problems here: (1) you are booking last minute; and (2) you want to travel at peak time.
The real bargain fares for this journey (from ₤11 each way) are only available if you book a fair way in advance (how far varies - but anything upto three months). Generally speaking, the cheapest 'walk on' fare you will get for this journey is a 'saver' at ₤54 each return (don't expect discounts for pensioners - they don't exist in England & Wales without a card that you have to buy). And that's only if you travel off peak.
If you want to arrive by 9.30am, you'll need a standard open return, which will cost ₤144 return. Each. I wouldn't suggest anyone pay this.
At this stage there is no point booking through thetrainline (I debate wether there is ever any point - contrary to popular belief, thetrainline is generally the MOST EXPENSIVE way of booking train tickets - they have no special offers that are not offered by every other online train ticket portal, plus the charge a booking fee if you pay by credit card).
So if you're looking for a bargain day out - you won't be having one by train. Megabus can still get you there and back for ₤23.50 each (Cardiff 0730 London 1035, London 1500 Cardiff 1815). Alternatively, try looking at another date a fair way in the future.0 -
Cheers for your help guys, looks like its the bus!!!0
