(I did this myself last week).
Thanks for taking the time to post
Is SimplySwitch quick? I.e. I want to 'handy my notice in' to Scottish Power by 1st August. Not sure if it'd create complications for switching??
Thanks!

I am very happy with OVO. They answer the phone and deal with emails quickly, have been with them about 18 months now. When my initial 1 year fix ended, they communicated with me about their best tariff at that time. Looked at comparison site and couldn't get better.
The direct debit was set quite high, but once I'd asked for it to be reduced, it was quickly and without hassle. Due to the credit I was building up with the high direct debit I have previously asked for bulk payments back and received them within 1 week. I wasn't bothered really about them having the extra money because they do give interest on credit balances.
Their internet site is easy to navigate and I give meter readings nearly every month online.
I'd recommend them to anyone.0 -
FWIW I did SimplySwitch on 21 Jul, an email arrived from OVO on 23 Jul telling me that they're due to start supplying me on 1 Sep.Is SimplySwitch quick? I.e. I want to 'handy my notice in' to Scottish Power by 1st August. Not sure if it'd create complications for switching??Stompa0 -
One good thing regarding Ovo's website is how up front they are about everything, even breaking down the costs of gas and electricity so you can see where the money goes and response times for emails and calls..
Dont see that sort of thing on the big suppliers sites, some of them make it hard to even find a phone number...Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!

Just to be slightly negative in comparison with others, my experience is that customer service has declined in the last year. Live chat is no longer available and a number of emails, where I have been chasing a DD reduction have not been responded to. They are pretty quick on credit balance refunds though.
Present contract ends in September and wondering whether to stick with Ovo or have a look at Co-op.0 -

Drat, I went via quidco/energyhelpline for £15
Edit: not so bad, mine was a single fuel switch which is £20 with SimplySwitch0 -
I am now in my second fixed price year with Ovo, and if you’ll pardon the cliche, Ovo does what it says on the tin. There are no hidden tricks, claw-backs or misleading tariffs. Can you say that about many other energy companies?
As can be seen from the exceptionally positive customer feedback on this thread, there is a feeling of customer loyalty towards Ovo. In the world of energy supply this is about as rare as finding an estate agent with integrity.0 -
Since I started the thread I thought I'd update it. I've now signed up with OVO, and though it's early days, I'm so far impressed. Just glad I've done it already as the previous owners supplier was E-ON, and given that they've just announced a price hike, I'm glad I've jumped ship...0

I'm due to come to the end of an Ovo dual fuel 1 year fix. They've sent me a letter reminding me and quote their new fix rates. I asked for the % increase and was quoted 70% increase for gas per KWH and 7.02% for electricity per KWH! These seem awfully high. My deal ends on Sept. 15th. I think I've read you shouldn't be charged a change penalty- currently £30 per fuel if they put up prices and you change within 15 days. Does anyone have any comments on this, please?0

I'm a bit puzzled by the 'New Energy Fixed' rates. When I did my switch application around 3 weeks ago, the rates shown for my region were:
Gas 3.54p
Elec 8.93p
on checking again today at: http://www.ovoenergy.com/OvoRateTable.pdf
I see:
Gas 3.40p
Elec 9.56p
(standing charges are the same)
Overall it'll work out about the same price for me, but I am surprised to see that I could have got the gas more cheaply if I'd waited. I hadn't appreciated that prices for a specific tariff could vary in that manner.Stompa0
