Cheaper Trains?
Buggles
Hi guys
For the first time ever, I'm needing to use a train. I am going from Worcester to Stoke-on-Trent. As I'm coming back the following day, the journey is going to cost £32 (and some pence) according to National Rail and The Train Line. I want an off-peak open return. If I were to come back the same day it would be £20 which sounds healthier to me [currently unemployed]
Can any of you experienced train-customers advice me on any sites/codes/ways of getting the cost down at all? Thanks

Off peak return to Birmingham - £13.10
Off peak return Brum to Stoke - £15.00
If you are lucky you might reduce the Brum Stoke fare a bit with advance singles - depends on your particular date. It was £8 each way on the date I checked.
You can buy the off peak returns on the day - same price. Don't get them from thetrainline which will charge you a fee.0 -
Oh I didn't think to do it separately, I knew I'd be changing at Birmingham. Thanks0

To save a bit more - instead of the off peak return Worcs - Birmingham buy a single each way to Smethwick Rolfe Street (£6.10 x 2). It's valid via Birmingham so you can travel short and use the Birmingham Stoke ticket from Birmingham.0

If you have any Tesco rewards vouchers try using http://www.redspottedhanky.com/ vis the Teswco rewards site and get 3 x the value to spend on rail tickets.0
