Buying property in Luton/Bedford a good idea?

OK, I kinda agree with most on this thread, Luton is a non starter as far as I'm concerned...
I live in MK, and I bought a 3 bed terrace 2 years ago for 125k, if you look there are bargins, I love living in MK... Good but not great links into london, but the town itself is well... nice.
My tip for Milton Keynes is to look at parts of most estates, I'm in the cheaper end of one but the cheapest is a few roads down, I wouldn't live in them but I also can't afford the nicer houses a few streets in the other direction.

Hehe a slightly older thread bumped up. Having read through back through it I am slightly tickled by the posters who have suggested that I do not know the area of Dunstable and Luton.
I have infact lived in Dunstable for very nearly 30 years... So I think I know where I live thank you. I have worked in Dunstable, Luton, Bedford and Leighton Buzzard so although I'm not nosey enough to know every nook & cranny of every housing estate... again I'm not completely clueless either
The reason I suggested Dunstable is because it is both smaller and quieter than Luton. No.. It doesn't have a train station but it is within easy reach of stations at both Luton & Leagrave. You could live in Luton and still be further away from the train than in Dunstable.
Being to close motorway & main roads Dunstable is also within easy distance of links into Luton, Bedford, MK, Northampton, St Albans ofcourse London to name but a few.
Yes... The town centre has a few too many boarded up shops and yes traffic can be annoying... But if traffic is your deal breaker then you can just about eliminate any other town including Luton and Bedford. And if shopping is your fix then Luton is a short bus ride away (they are also building a guided bus between Luton & Dunstable) and MK is about a 15 mile drive. So not to isolated at all!
Oh.. And Dunstable does have some really countryside right on it's doorstep!:www: Progress Report :www:
