john1975 wrote:what you dont understand every site even MSN has affiliate links which to pay the running of the site hosting, staff and so on, so before you call any site a scam do your research on what they offer.
Those affiliate links are not nessecarily always placed by the site owner. Some of them are scripted to be updated to whatever the advertiser wants to put on them. Affiliate links also do not have to be links to offers, links that sites like MSN and Hotmail have on them are similiar to Google AdWords - they could be advertising anything from insurance companies to banks etc.
I think the topic has gone besides the point now - it's not really such a big deal. :money:john1975 wrote:why dont you email all those sites offering the "scam offers" you call it and tell them its a scam you find yourself in court
PS: I hardly doubt you'd end up in court for branding a site as 'scammers'."To be or not to be......that is the question"

What are you talking about only site owners can place offer ads on there site, there is no script around that updates text links and offers info only banner ads can be updated like with google.
Also you be very surpised in how many people have been taken to court over what they said on forums and blogs thats why MSE has a "Disclaimer of warranties and liability" :rolleyes:Elf wrote:Those affiliate links are not nessecarily always placed by the site owner. John, is https://www.!!!!!!.uk your site by any chance? I also receive emails from them and nope, nothing changes for ages and yep, it's full of offers that don't give you anything except spam. Some things on there are genuine (old, but genuine all the same), but some aren't and people need to be careful.
The thing i most like about here, is that if its a scam, then people will tell you in about 0.555 seconds of it first being posted
days4dreams - bobs free stuff forum is quite good, but only really repeats the freebies that are on here. A lot of places have the same freebies listed, so you may as well stick to one site! Have a flick through the pages of this forum, as there are quite a few old freebies that are still going, although the ones like green and blacks chocolate have long gone...! (Yum yum..)
Hope this helps0 -
the op just wanted to know what freebie sites other would recommend, not the whole issue of affiliate scheme, so far he/she didn't get much out of this thread.
there is a new book called 10 best of everything in which there are 10 best freebie websites in uk. u can just go into a blackwell bookshop and read that page without buying the whole book.
however, the fact is there are not many freebies come up in uk when compare to other countries such as USA, u will find most of the available freebies in this forum.0 -
Hey MSE's!
Thanks for your efforts with this post
I do try to avoid those dodgy looking links and pop ups, everybody knows that sites dont just give away free ipods! (I wish)
And thanks for the links, 'mrsyokie' is bob's forum on MSE?
