Unknown direct debit on my bank account?

People are supposed to keep an eye on their own accounts (as the OP clearly does), and are protected by the DD guarantee; and money taken is claimed back into their account, and when the DD itself is not recognised the bank's Fraud department should be involved. Branch/call centre staff should start this all off for the customer.Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.- Mark TwainArguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.0

It's true cancelling a direct debit does not cancel any money owed, but once a customer cancels a mandate with their bank, it stays cancelled, until the customer says otherwise.
However, the advice to keep a close eye on you account is good. Can't trust anyone these days!
That was my point - they shouldnt do it but it is possible that they could.
