AA joint cover, recovery, we alternate with myself and my wife, and go through a cashback site as new members each year.

We are with green flag and think their service is great. The prices are good, you get cashback through quidco and their recovery times are fab. They have always been very helpful and I don't think we would use anyone else now.

This is what we normally do too. Although this year we had an excess of Tesco vouchers and converted them to RAC cover.

I like the idea of Autoaid, but can't be arrised to faff around sorting out payments and with my far flung holidays having to pay out a large sum.

I have been with the RAC for 30+ years and have called them out quite a few times. I've always been impressed by the speed and quality of their response.

So, I have found that if we do the RAC as 'personal' cover for joint, its £108, I dont think theres any cash back as it includes an exemption for 'free recovery' which is automatic it seems.

Who do you use and what do you recommend?

RAC. Paid for with Tesco Clubcard Points and its a 3xface value deal so for £108 policy, you'd only need £36 of clubcard vouchers. So the real cost is either Free, £12 or £36 depending on how you view it.

Called the RAC out yesterday, the bloke was there for 20 mins, told me he'd sorted it and I would be ok to drive myself to my mechanic, got onto the A27 and the limp mode kicked back in again!

I fail to see where the problem was. He told you it was a temporary repair that would be OK to get you to your mechanic. As long as it kept running when the engine management light came on, he wasn't wrong.

And you don't say how far it was before it went to limp home. Usually a comment means going to a garage nearby, not 50 miles away. If it was more than 5 to 10 miles, you should mention that.
