Hi
Am I benefiting a good deal from Powergen?
Or Is there better service and deal from different company?

you should use this ste
http://www.energyhelpline.com
You will need (for best results) your annual kwh usage in gas and electric (see post #8 below)
Your postcode
Your current tarriff name (eg standard)
You should also look at this thread where I have just pointed out why Ebico is best.

Is it true?

If you have economy7 storage heaters that is how they are supposed to work. If you have gas heating, I don't see the difference, unless you like to have a cold house during the daytime.0

i have just been informed by Powergen/staywarm that my previous years consumption was 4027.71 kilowatt hours electricity: and 27828.0 kilowatt hours for Gas.
They are increasing my monthly direct debit from £70.00 to £95.99 per month in Feb.
l am sure that there must be savings to be made. As l have no idea how to convert meter readings into Killowatt hours, could someone please help this OAP find an alternative supplier?0 -

Hi Marlon,....it is usual to start your own thread when you have a query.....have you read this rather long conversation, http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=72534
marked as a 'Sticky', that is a permanent thread.
Definate savings to be made is you live solo, or even two of you. Welcome to the board. Give further details in your own thread.0 -

Hi Marlon, your elec meter is already displayed in KWH. Your gas meter will be displayed in cubic feet or cubic meters. To work out what that is in KWH, if it's 4 digits, that's feet so subtract the previous read from the current read which will give you your units used in that time period and then do this. Units x 2.83 x 1.02264 x 39.5 / 3.6 = KWH. If your meter is 5 digits and therefore cubic meters, do the same equation without the x 2.83.
You mention you're an OAP. You might want to check out what you can get frmo Powergen StayWarm as depending on how many people you have in your home/number of bedrooms it can be an extremely competitive product.0 -
Marlon your gas & Elec kwh were told to you by powergen, it should be reasonably accurate figure. But if you want to check for yourself you will need a lot of your old bills.
You don't need to convert the meter reading into kwh because the kwh are already shown on your bills. You need to add up all the kwh for a whole year but look out for actual readings and estimated readings.
Marlon this post should help you to work out your own annual kwh useage.

We also need the first half of your postcode. And it would be best if you started your own new topic.0
