Referred to the natwest underwriters

Hello,

For some reason I cannot post on the mortgages board... so I will have to post here for now....
;)
I have applied to port my mortgage with additional borrowing to my current mortgage providers- Natwest. This is mainly due to avoid the early redemption fee on my FTB deal. I am also adding my partner on the application so it is becoming a joint application. He also owns his own house and is selling that so we can move to our own place.

We both have excellent credit scores, we are well within the affordability and I bank with NWB so when our mortgage application was REFERRED to the underwriters I have been incredibly stressed! Is this standard practice?

Yes, completely standard practice, at least with NatWest. We've just got a mortgage from them and they told us all applications are put to the underwriters. Ours took less than 2 days to approve. No problem at all. Relax :)
  • Having worked for a bank I can tell you this happens a lot. Happened to OH and I recently; apparently i'd had too many addresses in the last 3 years (we have perfectly good credit ratings). All approved fine.
Trying to remain free of unsecured debt and build up some savings.

Have done CeFA and CeMAP exams but no longer regulated.
