Keeping rabbits/guinea pigs warm this winter.

Hi! I have two guinea pigs and they live in a hutch outside. It has a waterproof cover for it and a bedroom compartment. Anyway, my question is will they be ok in the garden in winter? We get snow for about 2-3 weeks where I live. They have a snugglesafe heat disk thing and I will put blankets and extra straw in their bedroom, place a few towels over the hutch and then the waterproof cover. My mum will not allow me to bring the hutch inside (she is quite houseproud and thinks they smell but they dont) and there's no room in my bedroom and the shed is in use for the supplies for my dads company and the garage is full of fumy motorcycles. I can bring them in for some of the daytime (6-7 hours), but they have to be outside at night. I clean out their hutch every other day. So basically, will they be ok outside at night in the winter and snow??? Thank you!!

mine are raised and im going to put polythene stuff under it and around it on the outside, then i got thermal blankets (the kind you use in emergencies) and im going to make a warm cover for them as well as out of that and give them extra hay and newspaperEverything is always better after a cup of tea0

I have an 8 year old house rabbit who thinks he is a dog, he uses a litter tray and DH has made him a house with a run in the utility room - I wouldn't dream of putting him outsideBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

My neighbours rabbit lived outside even in winter (north east) and lived 10 years!!! :O I used to watch him playing in the snow, he loved it.

Guinea pigs have hair not fur and are not designed to live outdoors in the UK weather.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0
