I just started my pc and got this message
Any ideas and what to do next ?
Application failedTo initialize(a code)
A problem caused Windows defender service to stop.To start the service Restart your pc or search help and support on how to start a service manually
Pc is working fine but Do I need to do anything ?
Advice much appreciated

I had the same message yesterday, Except everything stalled, I couldn't get IE to load nor my email, In the end i uninstalled Defender...haven't bothered yet to download it again.0

It is because the copy of windows defender you have has expired. Simply download the latest one which was released a few weeks okay and you will be okay.0

I had the same problem, on the offchance I downloaded the latest copy and ran it.. Now everything's fineI'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!

uep it was a beta edition which worked fine on Win 2000
however the new download requires Win XP and the latest service pack as well
so I cant use it any more

Are there any preferred settings for the auto run settings. This is for the home PC which I rarely use but the children always do. I want to fully automate as much as possible as they never update or run any antivirus or anti spy-ware progs.I have a cunning plan!
